Museum and Hall of Fame to Induct Five
Ft. Worth,
TX – The National Cowboys
of Color Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort
Worth,
Texas will host its annual Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremony on Thursday, October 20,
2005 at Texas
Wesleyan
University. The event serves as
a salute to the women, men and history of the “Forgotten Old West”.
The 2005 National Cowboys of Color Inductees will include the NFL’s Mel
Blount, rodeo trick rider Vicki Adams, world-famous rodeo clown Leon Coffee, and
internationally renowned charro Gerry Diaz. There will also be a posthumous
induction of the founder of the first African-American riding club in
Fort Worth, Ed “Pop” Landers.
The National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame is a non-profit
organization founded in 2001 to give recognition to outstanding pioneers who
contributed to the settling of the early American Western Frontier as well as
acknowledge individuals who continue to be trailblazers committed to the legacy
of western culture. The Museum and
Hall of Fame tells the stories of the contributions that many history books left
out and presents excellent examples of American Heroes of the past, present and
future. The museum’s regular
operation hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
